PAIN RELIEF and SKIN CARE CREAMS

Ateevia Botanica Pain Cream Ingredients

At Ateevia, we use natural botanicals in our products, including pumpkin, borage, poke root (phytolacca decandra), sunflower and safflower. These biologically active natural product compounds contain essential anti-inflammatory nutrients, such as flavonoids, lignans, linoleic and oleic acids and antioxidants, which potentially suppress molecules that cause inflammation in joints and other tissues. PRIME is the first cream to incorporate all these elements in a topical form.
Pumpkin Pumpkin
You may know that pumpkin is low in fat and calories, but did you know that it is also rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals? Both the flesh and seeds of the pumpkin provide many health-boosting nutrients, including Alpha-carotene, Beta-carotene, Fiber, Vitamins C and E, Potassium, Magnesium, and Pantothenic acid. The alpha-carotene and beta-carotene are potent antioxidants found in pumpkin and are pro-vitamin A carotenoids, meaning the body converts them to vitamin A. The beta-carotene in pumpkin can also act as an anti-inflammatory, and boost immunity while lessening the risk of heart disease. Beta carotene has been shown to have strong anti- inflammatory properties. Much like Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) like aspirin, beta carotene has properties which minimize the COX-2 pro inflammatory pathway. Moreover, beta carotene is all natural and comes with a wide variety of other benefits. NSAIDs on the other hand, generally come with side effects instead of benefits, things like ulcers and other significant health concerns.

While pumpkin flesh is nutrient-rich, pumpkin seeds also contain essential vitamins and minerals with similar anti-inflammatory benefits. Pumpkin seeds are a good source of vitamin E, iron, magnesium, potassium, zinc, and are an excellent plant-based source of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids. Being loaded with Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids and other key nutrients, means that pumpkin seeds' unique blend of healthy nutrients work together to provide a strong anti-inflammatory response to the body.
Borage Borage
The use of borage dates back thousands of years. Borage has one of the highest amounts of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA, also known as omega-6). Borage oil contains 20-26 % GLA, which has been shown to benefit eczema, dermatitis, diabetic neuropathy, rheumatoid arthritis, skin health and general inflammation. Its other benefits come from its salicylic acid, and its concentrations of Omega 3, mucilage, tannin, resin, potassium nitrate, calcium and magnesium. The oil, extracted from the seeds, is used by naturopathic doctors for its anti-inflammatory and its skin health benefits. The human body converts it to a substance that resembles hormones and is known as PGE1 or prostaglandin E1. This element is used as an antithrombotic and anti-inflammatory by the body, since it has blood thinning properties and dilates the vessels. Borage is effective in rheumatoid arthritis cases, acute respiratory syndrome and hypertension. It is also used to help in the treatment of eczema. Borage helps reduce the inflammation and itching of skin and doesn't have side effects, unlike many medicines.
Poke Root Poke Root
Poke has been used for inflammatory pain relief since the time of Ancient Egypt and Greece. Poke Root, also known as phytolacca decandra, is an anti-inflammatory and anti-rheumatic herb. The parts of the plant that are used in herbal healing are the berries and roots. Poke Root is a pungent bitter herb that is excellent for the treatment of arthritis, degenerative diseases and tumors and can be used in combination with other herbs because it can be very powerful and potent. Poke Root is very full of detoxifying properties and it is a wonderful blood and lymphatic purifying herb. It works well in relieving congested, inflamed and swollen glands as well as sore throat and tonsillitis. Studies have shown that Poke Root can reduce inflammation and pain which accompany arthritis and rheumatism. Native Americans used dried poke root to ease arthritis.
Sunflower Sunflower
The benefits of the safflower have a centuries-old tradition of medicinal use in Asia. Extract from the flower of the plant provided natural alternatives for joint discomfort of arthritis. Its properties were recognized to reduce pain and inflammation.
The plant’s flower has been used internally in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years, including easing joint pain and stiffness. Safflower has been identified as the source of several flavonoids with strong antioxidant compounds. Flavonoids are any of a group of oxygen-containing aromatic antioxidant compounds that help to lower inflammation as well as counteract the damaging effects of oxidation on body tissues. The well-known antioxidant, quercetin, is one of the flavonoids found in safflower. Quercetin has many health benefits among which it can help reduce the inflammation that results from bursitis, gout, and arthritis.
